How to make reels for a clothing brand without a photoshoot

A reel for every product used to mean a model, a location and an editor for every drop. This is how clothing brands make them from the product photos they already have — step by step, and what to watch for.

What you need

  • Photos of the product you already have: a flat lay, a packshot, a photo on a hanger or on a model.
  • A reel that works for your kind of product — the template. Every template in the library is a copy of a real reel that performed.
  • A model, chosen from the library, or the one the reel was filmed with.

1. Start from a reel that already worked

Browse the templates by who they are for, by department and by kind of video — OOTD, get ready with me, fit check, street walk, studio, product close-up. Each template is filed by what it can take, not only by what it was filmed with: a street walk shot on a dress may take any outfit, and its card says so. Every card shows the video's length and its price before you open it.

2. Add your product photos

One clear photo of the front is enough to start; more photos help. When the video turns the model away from the camera, the upload card asks for a photo of the back as well. Photos straight from your store work, and so do iPhone photos — JPG, PNG and HEIC are all accepted.

Each photo is checked as you add it. If no product can be found in it, or the piece does not suit the template — a pair of trousers on a template made for tops — the card says so. It never stops you; it tells you before you spend.

3. Pick the model and the setting

Choose a model from the library, or keep the one the reel was filmed with. The background can stay exactly as filmed, move to one of the settings the template suggests, or go wherever you type — a rooftop at sunset, a palace courtyard.

4. Make it

Pick 720p or 1080p — 1080p costs twice the credits — and press Make my video. A video takes about ten minutes. If one fails, its credits come back.

What you get back

A vertical MP4 the length of the template, with your product worn through every shot: the same moves, the same cuts, the same pace as the reel it copies. It is silent, so you add your own music or voice when you post — on Instagram, on the product page, in an ad, or on a marketplace listing (each marketplace has its own video rules; check them before you upload).

Things worth knowing

  • Run the same template across a collection, with the same model, and the videos match — a feed that looks shot in one day.
  • The same product in a different template is a different video. Two or three per product give you something new to post each week.
  • Pieces you do not replace stay as they were in the original reel — the shoes, the jewellery, the bag — so pick a template whose styling suits your product.
  • Only use products and photos you have the rights to.
